Evening,
Although there were only 3 of us, between Maryanne, Alex and myself, all corners of the triad were represented. We had a beautiful day with the temp in the high 50's. We passed out about 150 flyers. The response was positive with very few negative people to contend with. One women commented adoptive parents deserve their privacy...boy was she way off on our purpose. At 1:00, we went to the Vital Statistics " office" on the 5th floor and gave them the rest of our flyers. We also had a short chat with the director who seemed to understand where we were coming from. Although we had no media coverage, and our day was not nearly as exciting as in Philly, I'd say we pretty successful in reaching out to the public. Unfortunately, I didn't check my camera batteries so there aren't any pictures to be had.
GO NARD!!!
Sheila

It was really a pleasant and productive day. We heard from many people passing by who had adoption in their families, including a man whose wife was a reunited adoptee, as well as members of the general public who did not know that adoptees could not get their OBC, and thought it ridiculous. People were nice and even enthusiastic about taking our flyers--Anita, you are now a legend in NJ thanks to your excellent article. So you were "out there" for NARD after all. This kind of outreach, even a small scale, does have the potential to touch and educate people, and spread our word father than we might imagine.
And I had a nice lunch with Alex, and learned all about sheep!
GOOOOOO NARD!
