  • Ancestry.com's Records Search - Includes vital recs, military, church, court records and more.
  • Social Security Death Index courtesy of Ancestry.com. Free U.S. death index search to find out if someone is still alive, where their SS number was issues and their last known address. Search it yourself online!
  • Overseas Brats Online: "A Resource for Children of the Cold War" contains search info. for those who served overseas during the Cold War. Extensive search databases. Submitted by a birthmother- BRAT who says there are many birthmothers who were teens overseas when they became pregnant.

  • U.S. State Laws and Search Resources: Detailed info. on laws and how to search in the U.S. courtesy of Adoption Triad Outreach.
  • State-by-State Registries - List of state and situation-specific registries including black market adoptions, etc. Beware that you should not have to pay for an online registry search or listing and that you should be wary of professional searchers who contact you regarding your listings. Look for registries endorsed by CARE or SOAR.
  • Alabama Birthlink Web Site: Information on Searching in Alabama with an Alabama search registry.
  • California Birth Index - If you were born in California, you may be able to figure out your birthname and your birthmother's maiden name here. Also see California Adoptee Rights for CA-based activism, search and support.
  • Colorado: Adoptees in Search - Denver: Denver-based adoptee search support group. Links to online resources.
  • Georgia: E.A.G.L.E. for Georgians focuses on adoptee rights activism for Georgia-born adoptees, but also has search info. and an email list you can join.

    REUNION REGISTRIES

    Warning: *Some* online registries (NOT the ISRR which is offline and completely above board) may sell or make your search info. available to PIs (private investigators) who may contact you by email or otherwise claiming to be able to help you with your search. There have been numerous reports of instances in which adoptees and birthparents were contacted by PIs who claimed to have the info. they wanted and would give it to them for large amounts of money. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THESE PARASITES WHO MAKE MONEY OFF YOUR LOST CIVIL RIGHTS! Try to get their contact info. and REPORT THEM to alt.adoption and the online triad community. I.S.R.R. can absolutely be trusted as can most registries run by adoption reform groups. Please always beware of anyone who approaches you claiming to have your birth info. TRIADIAN, BEWARE. SEARCH SAFE, SEARCH SMART.
