Action Alert!March 11, 2001 SUPPORT UNCONDITIONAL ADOPTEE RIGHTS IN ARKANSAS!
Triadians with Arkansas connections, and especially Arkansas residents,
are desperately needed to fight for House Bill 1057, which was
introduced by Rep. Sandra Rodgers. This bill would give adults who were born in Arkansas and adopted unconditional access to their original birth certificates. This is the second year that Rep. Sandra Rodgers has introduced this legislation, and she desperately needs the grassroots assistance of Arkansas citizens who
support this bill to help it survive. The bill was heard in committee and failed to get enough votes to go to the floor, but Rep. Rodgers is trying again!

HB-1057 is facing an uphill battle. There have been outrageous articles and editorials in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (Little Rock newspaper) about the legislation, which focused
almost entirely on fear and shame-mongering arguments by Arkansas
adoption professionals.
